How big is too big.... cell phone that is

The last Iphone update pissed me off so bad, I changed to a samsung 25. So far I like it but there are things I haven't figured out yet.

AT&T is so screwed up I had to go back to Verizon to get things functioning. In only two more days, I might get the transition accomplished. It's always so much fun when their representative can't speak English. I got so frustrated I was tempted to burn the phone in their lot and start from scratch and the phone is paid off.

What went wrong with ios 26?

How much time do you have!🤣. The “liquid glass” theme looks like ass. When your keyboard is transparent with text behind it you can’t see anything. All the pop up menus, text blocks are transparent. Unnecessary bubbles around the play, pause buttons. Apps look childish especially the photos app it’s blurry on the edges. I’ve made it tolerable by switching to dark mode and “tinted glass”. Now it logged me out of so many apps that if I wasn’t using google chrome to save login information I’d be screwed. Their safari browser won’t load the keyboard half of the time or work right at all. Overall they added more steps to everything reminding me of android ten years ago (they’ve gotten simpler). My favorite screw up is the face recognition unlock now only works 30% of the time. Fortunately I haven’t experienced the major glitches and crashes that some did but I didn’t update until the second round of the iOS 26 series.

I want my phone to be only as big as needed to be functional. My current iPhone 16e is working for me. I don’t want to be lugging a super big phone every where I go. I have a business and need to be wired in at all times.

wrench

I have an s22 and any bigger it will be difficult to find pockets for it.
it is sometimes tough now, but that is more in my mountain bike shorts.

My phone died this week when the screen went out again. I found samsung makes a "rugged" work phone. It allows you to take the battery out yourself to replace which seems nice. Has anyone tried the Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 Pro? I'd keep a phone longer but have to replace every few years when they get broken, so a tougher built phone sounds good to me.

Any phone bigger than this is too big.

Not crazy at all, the key to owning a basic phone in 2026 is to have options. If I'm just going out to dinner with the wife, a basic phone is more than good enough. If I'm going on a hunting trip, I'll take out the SIM card and put it in a smartphone since that will clearly be a useful device to have in the field. No need to carry a smartphone 24/7.
