How are you guys getting payment for sales?

I have a few things listed for sale and all my messages are from buyers with zero feedback. After a quick search it looks like just about everything can be reversed these days. This has probably been discussed before but my search terms did not come up with anything. Is there a thread here I am missing about seller safety?

PayPal F&F or Zelle or Venmo with no obvious notes for any 2A related. Using goods and services for anything 2A related is a sure fire way to get banned from Paypal/Venmo AND lose the transaction money.

If they're a noob, just ask them to mail you a check or money order and wait until it cashes. If they're in a hurry that's a red flag.

Checks can cash (be credited to your account), but can take up to two weeks to fully clear an bank. As such, if the check is bogus, your bank obviously is not going to be the one taking the hit.

I still like Goods on PayPal in circumstances where seller is new or suspect. Just don't describe it as gun or ammo.
Buyer or seller eats 3%
IRS changed the taxation limit to $20,000.00 in 2026
If using goods and services, then lying about the transaction, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. G&S is intended to protect the buyer that the item being sold is as described. Buyer has tons of leverage against the seller under PayPal's model and lots of people get screwed by unscrupulous buyers. All the buyer has to do is indicate that the seller sold a firearms related item and they're cooked. I wouldn't even sell a scope using G&S.

I know I'm newer here, but on a couple other sites I use (AR15/Shotgunworld) it is as said above, just do not mention 2A on anything in notes for PayPal or Venmo.
I send usually via PayPal and will pay as goods in case something goes wrong from the seller I am protected a little, (Honestly never had an issue) I will actually add 3% to offset the seller's loss but others won't. If it is just Friends and Family there is no 3% but there is no way to dispute a bad sale.

If it is anything firearms related, the buyer will have 10000% protection while the seller risks the transaction funds AND a perma-ban. All a buyer has to do is report an issue and mention the item is firearm related, boom they get a refund and the seller is toast. Even if the buyer is an obvious scammer.

I'll never use G&S as a seller for firearms related items.

For firearms, Guntab is the only way to go if not selling face to face. For everything else, PayPal has worked fine for me. It looks like zelle is significantly more difficult for a buyer to reverse if thats a concern.
