Hot weather pants - OR Ferrosi vs FL Trace vs Kuiu Tiburon

I like the OR Ferrosi, Sitka Ascent and Kuiu Kutana Pants for hot weather. Lots of good sun hoodies out there. I like the OR Astroman and Echo hoodies along with the Sitka Core LW, Duck Camp LW, Simns Solarflex and Orvis Pro hoodies.

I have worn all 3 and find myself gravitating towards the OR Ferrosi. I think they breathe the best, making them the best for hot weather. They have have been extremely durable, more so than the Tiburon. I also like the interior drawstring on the newest version. Not to mention you could usually find the Ferrosi on sale closer to $60.

I'm still on the search for the perfect sun hoody, that is breathable and light. I seem to always still get hot in them.

I am looking for pants for very hot hiking temps - 80-100F. Hunting durability not the prime consideration as more for summer backpacking. My go to is the OR Ferrosi pants, but I am wondering if the new perforated options from FL and Kuiu are remarkably better. Both add hip vents which helps, but is the material actually much better? Doing a Grand Canyon R2R2R backpacking trip in June which might be stupid heat wise, then Virginia in July. And just general backpacking in Colorado all summer can be hot. Really just interested if folks have direct comparison to the Ferrosi - is it worth spending money or is the performance pretty similar in the real world? Going to be hot no matter what...

Hiking Grand Canyon in June??
Pants would not be my main concern especially if this is a rim to rim hike.
GC in summer can be deadly at worst and just "not fun" at best.
Plan carefully and conservatively.

Re: warmer weather pants, loved the fit and feel of the Tiburon pants I tried at the KUIU sale in Dixon especially given it was probably 95° out but the huge rip at the pant legs didn't help its case on durability. I'd wear gaiters with them or go with the Kutanas if you were going Kuiu

Sitka ascent are my hot weather preference.

I dislike the tiburon skin feel with the DWR treatment. I would not choose the kutana for that trip, you can get a much lighter material.

I have no experience with the ferrosi or first lite.

Another vote for ferrosi. I have had a pair for over 8 years. Had to redo some of the stitching, but the fabric is in good condition.

For a sun shirt, those Sitka lightweight hoodies are hard to go past. Exceptionally light weight material and deep zipper. I have only used synthetic, no experience with merino. Built in face mask can be somewhat annoying in situations but easy to remove if not needed.

I recently tried out a pair of ferrosi pants while climbing 14ers, held up pretty well. I'd buy another pair for sure.

Never tried the FL ones.

I had a pair of early Tiburons and they were trashed in just a few days. Any contact with brush pulled the fibers and made the pants fuzzy. Not sure if they're still like that. Kuiu seems to fix these issues eventually.

Ferrosis are great. Sitka's Ascent pants are like the Ferrosis but more durable, IMO.

Interesting. I have the Tiburon sun hoodie and it's really light. I'd worry that the pants would not hold up either. That said, I'd be interested in trying a pair for trail hiking. Breathes really well.
