Hot weather base layer shirt recommendations

I have a First Lite Wick quarter zip long sleeve that I have been wearing. Great shirt, but I seem to be between sizes. I have been contemplating giving another shirt a try. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Sitka Core lightweight crew long sleeve and how these two compare.

As far as material goes, the Wick is awesome. Comfortable, quick drying and odorless, although if I had to gripe about something I feel it is a little too stretchy. Quick drying and odorless are my main concerns. Can the Sitka Core keep up with the Wick?

sitka core lightweight hoody or merino synthetic blends work best for me in hawaii. prefer the sitka hoody bc it keeps the sun off my neck and ears.

Make sure it's Merino with the Sitka core , the synthetic Sitka will get pretty funky pretty quick in warm weather if your sweating.

I run black ovis Merino base layers, they are cheaper than others but still damn good

I have the Wick and the older Chama and I just started using the Core lightweight this season. If you sweat a lot like me, you can't beat the Core. It dries as fast as you can sweat. The built in face mask is slick too. As far as odor goes, the one I have has the Polygiene stuff, which I think is some sort of silver woven into the fabric? Geek stuff. Seems to work though.

It's definitely not as comfortable as the FL stuff though. I'll be using the Wick when the weather chills.

I wore a Sitka core light crew as my only layer in Arizona a couple weeks ago, comfy and breaths well.

If it gets stinky I just rinse in a creek and once dry hang it over a Smokey fire

I tried a Nomad LS last September. Dried fast and no smell after 7 days. I was happy with it.

The light Kuiu 1/4 zip is my choice.

Does First Lite have anything that light? The FL wool LS 1/4 zip I have is a fair bit warmer.

+1 for the sitka lightweight core hoodie. Does everything a lightweight shirt should and gives sun protection and camo. I wear mine as a base layer way into late season.

Your idea of hot weather and mine are probably different because I am in CA and often start the morning in my shirt and only carry a mid layer if sweat and wind are a concern.

I have been using the Badlands Algus long/short sleeve, pants and neck gaiter for a few years and they have been great. I have taken them through some very thick nasty brush and they have held up great, much better than merino. Their new Seal and Stealth tops would be good options also. Also picked up a pair of Algus boxers and they are great too.

I grabbed a sitka core lightweight short sleeve this year for early season. It is super light and breathes well. But... it stank so bad after just one day of good hiking. I dont think the “anti-microbial” that they speak of does anything for smell. I then put on my FL aerowool base. It was a little warmer than i wanted but after several days of long hikes i couldnt smell a thing. I will be going all merino for base layers in hot and cold weather from now on

Used this years Sitka Merino lightweight and it was great. Have the core lightweight hoody but doesn't breath as well or avoid the stink as much.

Voormi makes an ultralight merino shirt that I am waiting on now.

I have the voormi RMEF lightweight, was my favorite until this years Sitka lightweight merino. In Arizona so I have them all including first lite aero wool and kuiu. Sitka is softest, thinnest and quickest drying. Voormi next for me , but they are all very good.

A thin, loose fitting synthetic short sleeved shirt. Nothing wool for me in hot weather.
