Hostage Style rests vs. drop aways

I have read through the whisker biscuit vs drop away thread and see both sides of the story... some like it, some dont. From what I gather, most don't like the Biscuit because of the contact on the fletching and inconsistencies, therefore they opt for the drop aways. I understand this way of thinking and why some shy away from them.

But what is everyone's thoughts on Hostage style rests?

They offer full containment, there is no fletching contact, they support the arrow until it leaves the bow, and they are almost fool proof. I am not for or against any one style, I just wanted to see what people thought about them in general.

I have considered trying out a Hostage rest for a while instead of my Ripcord. They do seems pretty fool proof and no moving parts seems like lesser likelyhood of failures, my only concern with them is how long do the brushes last, how easy would it be to lose one in the field?

Well I can't speak for the newer or hostage pro but I had the original one and grew to hate it. Hear they have improved some of my gripes so like I say this is the old original. If you shoot helical vanes your still gonna get contact I started with offset and spent tons of time turning nocks so they wouldn't contact and go through the other complaint most had was the brushes would loosen fast you would get everything tuned then 200 shots later your group starts opening up check through paper and you would need to tweak then replace brushed and tweak again I got so tired of it I went to a ripcord set it and haven't ever had to adjust it and i can shoot as much helical as i want I would never go back to it I would rather have a biscuit where contact is the same all around. Once again this was based off the old original and I have since heard they improved a lot on the newer ones and corrected many of my gripes but my current set up has served me well and I have confidence in it. I have a brother in law that loves his hostage he has a bag of like 50 new brushes always so personal preference and what you have confidence in I guess that was just my experience with it for what it's worth. Ill probably upset some with my opinion but that's my opinion shot good enough when all was fresh just hated always having to tinker.

The Whisker biscuit is made to shoot 60 yards and in.. once u get out past that it drops dramtically... And it is true u do shoot a tad bit slower... I have shot both and have chosen the drop away rest... With the hostage it would probably slow you down a little but not much... With the drop away you dont have to replace anything unless it breaks... I prefer no extra contact with my arrow than whats needed to shoot it...

Some of the new octane hostage rests have done away with brushes and gone to plastic 'buttons' to eliminate brushes and them wearing out.
