I second this. The Silky Katanaboy is an awesome saw and well worth the investment if you are able to get one.Silky Katanaboy is about as good as it gets if you're willing to spend the money. Cut damn near as good as a 2 man cross cut... otherwise just a saddle saw that cuts on the pull work pretty good. I had heard plenty of hype around the Katanaboy and now that I have one.. they are worth their weight in gold in the backcountry.... but all that being said, electric chainsaws really work great too

Curious, how do you recommend to pack the Katanaboy?Silky Katanaboy is about as good as it gets if you're willing to spend the money. I just tuck in under my lash ropes on my lead pack animal, if i think its going to be needed, so its right there and easy to access. Or ill just throw it in panniers if i have an easy sack load on an animal. Otherwise, i know people who have made scabbards for them in order to ride with them for clearing trail. But for me, I basically always have a pack animal, so im not going to tuck it under my leg if i can throw it under my lash rope on top my load easy enough.Curious, how do you recommend to pack the Katanaboy?
I believe mine is the 500..cant remember off hand. but definitely not the 1000. If you are going to be clearing a lot of trail, and bigger trees, the larger 650 would probably be worth it. I dont have to clear much, so the smaller size for packing is my preference.Which size are you all using? 500, 650? Surely not the 1000 or are you?
