Anybody have experience with this style of panniers? For guys that do not own there own stock and rent horses....could pre-pack and weigh each poly liner ahead of time and not take a chance on the condition of rented equipment.

That's what I'm going to be using. I can role it up and tie it behind the cantle, them its always available for the pack job.

I have some I bought from Chris Turnow. The work but are not that durable.

Most of the cheap off brands won't have much reliability or longevity. If used without the liners for quarters make sure to use a barrel hitch or something to get them off the animals side as they hang too low.

i made a set that are very strong, but i copied all the others and they look like chineese paniers-hung too low.

others soft panniers can be adapted with ease - i will dig out some pics.

For sure! Glad you brought that up.

Usually have to pull your stirrups up towards the shoulder or some modification or you can pinch a horse in the ribs. Most are all to happy to unload your buck if you pull that one.

I've been looking at getting a set of these for solo one animal quick trips.

The "pack a saddle" system by maxx trail looks pretty handy, plus it can go on a crossbuck or decker. Was also looking at the ones made by Davis Tent as they have a breast collar and britchin integrated into it.

Never used one though.

Never rented stock ....we own our own.... but I certainly would prefer to own my own panniers. We have two sets of saddle panniers and I think they are Trail Max. We take a set with us as a contengincy, but so far the mules have been doing all the heavy packing.

Not sure why we didn't buy them from Beckel Canvas though, probably a much better product.

Robby, Iron cloth or what some others call Bear cloth is a heavy armor duck nylon mesh sometimes known as ballistic material. Mice don't chew it, it doesn't rot, and if it gets a hole in you can take a match or hot nail and close that hole up. Iron Cloth material is washable, incredibly durable, versatile and won't fray or rip.
