Just shot some of the 100gr 6.5 Grendel ammo from an 18" barrel. Average velocity of 2690 was quite impressive and a big improvement over the 123 eldm in terms of drop and drift.

I think the 62 eld vt will be a fun bullet for varmints in the 223.

18ā€ going 3050fps and the BC to make it a 5mph gun. I think they got a winner.
Don't think the 62s will work at mag length in a 223.

Has anyone got their hands on these for their 223 arā€™s? Iā€™m interested in moving away from the 73 eldm because my barrel isnā€™t in love with them and I like the idea of a more frangible bullet for safer ground hog hunts on farms. Iā€™m curious how they fit in mags. I want to pair them with 8028xbr without compressed loads.

They wonā€™t work. Shortest you can go is around 2.38ā€. The bullet has a long nose similar to the 75eld

Those 62's are a long ass bullet for their weight I think they're right around 1.055 in length which is damn near as long as a 80gr ELD-M and don't forget you'll need a MUCH faster twist, I think Hornady is suggesting 8tw or faster, than you'd normally expect for a 62gr bullet.

Iā€™m running an 8 twist proof barrel. But agree with them being too long for mag length. Youā€™d be seated well into the case to get them short enough. Itā€™s a shame, I like the concept of the hollow cavity behind the heat tip.
