I bought and shot several boxes of factory Precision Hunter Eldx and Match Eldm ammo. I am wondering if the brass is the same in both the Precision hunter and match factory loads. I'd like to use the once fired brass for reloading.

Thanks.

I went to NE and went through the hornady factory for work (unreal) and the way they explained it to us/showed us, the brass is all the same.
Unreal quality control

Thanks guys. Yes, the head stamp is the same, so I figured the brass was also, but wasn't positive. Time to load some ammo.

I have 3 firings in a 7 Rem Mag with hornady brass. It's not a hot load by any means so we will see how many I can get.

I bought 200 rounds when I first got the gun to practice with at extended ranges as I didnt reload yet and the American Whitetail ammo was around 20 a box. They were all the same lot # as well

I weight sorted these and got 88 cases +/- 0.5 grains. If I went to +/- 1 grain could have had 130 or so.

If they are the same lot then they are likely very close to each other box to box but not Eldm vs Eldx. I would weigh them and check for variance. This wont guarentee they are the same dimensions but should get you close.

Then just resize trim and enjoy

I stop by on my way to/from MI for the holidays if its working hours Mon-Fri to see what seconds they have around, I really want to take the tour some time but my kids are too young and can't justify making them sit/wait during such a long drive. Some day...

Keep them separate in the box they came out of unless they’re all from the same lot. There are differences lot to lot. Hornady is not the toughest or most consistent brass and I’d never buy it for loading but if you have it run it.

It's gotten better in the last few years.

As a few other said the only thing that may be different is lots.

You can easily take a few pieces from each box and compare chrono data when you reload it.

If the same load shoots the same speed from both boxes then feel free to mix it up. If not keep it seperate or mark it knowing brass A will have a different velocity than brass B
