That’s ideal. I’d say of the hundreds I’ve killed over the last 35 years on two continents, a second shot was available/necessary on 10% or less.

I can't remember the phone call from 2 years ago. I think based on the thread I decided I was going to use 1100 fps minimum impact velocity to help determine my max effective range.

You should give Hornady a call and ask. Maybe they have more data and updated recommendations.

For anyone that happens to come across this thread in the future with the same question regarding the 340 grain Eld-X Bore Drivers, Hornady confirmed "1100 fps for 100% expansion".

Is that the 340 gr ELDX? Is that minimum fps for total expansion or what? I think pushing 1500fps with great accuracy but have not tested terminal performance YET.

Yes, typo corrected. 340 grains. Yes, minimum velocity for 100% expansion.
