Someone talk me into which bag to get? The 44 mag is heavier and less capacity, but has the pockets.

I don't like the idea of adding outside belt pouches as I'm thinking they will hang up on brush.

The hoodlum is nice if you like the big open bag concept. I have one now and can’t see myself getting anything else anytime soon.

I have both. I don't think I'll go back to the 44 mag. I ran the 44 with the sherman pocket for added room. Used it on a 6 day solo and it was stuffed full and had my tent strapped to the outside. This year, I ran the hoodlum for the same length of hunt with one large and two med belt pouches. Had plenty of extra room with everything inside the bag.

For day use, the 44 was a little more of a pain to get into with the clam shell design. I liked the compress-ability of the hoodlum for day mode and the ease of getting into the side zips without having to undo a bunch of compression straps. I never had an issue with snagging of the belt pouches on anything.

I got the 44 mag. Was in Wyoming with my buddy in Sept. this year. He shot a nice bull on day 6. On one of the shuttle trips I was able to get his "camp" and mine into the 44 mag. Had to strap a lot of stuff on the outside. I got the a couple pouches I kept on the outside of the pack through the hunt as well. I really loved the setup. The top of the 44 mag is awesome with the zippered pockets and how you can easily get into the pack. Also the exterior pouches I ran on it kept my stuff I wanted quick access to. Love that pack. Have no experience with the Hoodlum though. Picture is the pack when I had to take both our camps to the truck while he had a load of meat.

Edit: Also those pouches being on the pack never were an issue with getting hung up on stuff.

1) Hoodlum 2) Ma Deuce if you like the clamshell opening/built in pockets - Ma Deuce is barely heavier than the 44 with incredible space…..
