So this is a thread purely in jest.

I’m in for two of the new S2H scopes when they come in, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on them.

The part I have to sell my wife on is that I will now “need” two more rifles to take the place of the optics hosts the current scopes will be getting booted from.

What’s your sales pitch to your better 3/4 if you don’t want to get rid of the optics you have, but also don’t just want them sitting in a closet?

In full disclosure, I have a great wife.

So long as I save and nothing effects our kids (I’d never blow money when my family needed something) and her being able shop to an extent and go out with her friends once a month, she doesn’t fuss at all about what I spend money on.

Sometimes it just takes more saving time than I want it to, but in my experience that’s just life.

My wife shoots and hunts with me. She doesn’t say a word anymore though. She knows guns and shooting are my thing and I let her know what I’m doing with cash and why. It’s the only hobby I have and she gets it. I’m thinking when she shoots my Tikka 243 she’s going to want one for herself.

I'm lucky in that my wife doesn't really pay attention. When I get a new rifle, I pick color schemes/finishes that look similar. She either doesn't notice or has given up.

I don't ever question my wife's "need" for another pair of shoes, purse, bicycle or whatever and she doesn't question whether there is a new gun in one of the safes. All she has ever asked when I told her that I had to go and get a new rifle, "can we afford it?" I told her I was sure that we could and that was that. When we were first married, she asked me just how many guns that I needed, I answered, "just one more!" She just smiled and we've been fine ever since.

I just don’t tell her. 🤣 Joking. She usually gives me an eye roll and says “that could have gone to our Disney fund”.

She buys what she wants, SAHM, new Tahoe in the driveway, kiddos get whatever she deems that they “need”, and the Disney vacation fund is progressing nicely. She thinks it’s a little wild, but like others said she knows it’s a fun hobby type thing for me so she doesn’t really question it.

To be fair, I might spend a couple thousand on a rifle, and it’s usually much less than that. The other night she goes “oh, you know how I’ve always wanted a Wrangler as a fun weekend car? Well I found something else that I’m just in love with.” Proceeds to bring up this show Shrinking that she is watching, and goes “look at that Bronco. That’s what I want, so if you find one you have my permission to buy it”.

Yeah it’s a 1st Gen Bronco. Told her to loose that dream and go back to the wrangler. We can’t afford that. 😂

My wife and I pool our money but we have separate credit cards. Problem solved. When I die she will be in for a treat when she looks in my gun cabinets!
