So first off - I have zero experience sewing any of the siltarp material or even much sewing in general. This might be more hassle than its worth but just a thought....

But I was looking at my Oware 9'x9' pyramid tarp/tent and got the idea from looking at the Kifaru annex that maybe I could make a annex to attach into my existing door zipper to add a fly and a bit of floor space without actually cutting a stove jack into the tent.
Similar idea to the Big Agnes "wedgie" to make a sleeping bag a bit larger.

That way I could keep my existing set up as lite as possible during earlier hunts and take the "annex" and a stove on later hunts.

One thing throwing me is since the Oware tent is a square bottom I think the annex would have to be sewn at an angle to include a "beak" to make the geometry work.

Has anyone else thought about doing this with a Oware, Golite or Bearpaw?

So essentially making the door face pop outward to make the tent 5 sided

could work well it seems. door on sl5 would not work i dont think as only "1/8" of the tent opens. sl4 used a door similar to yours thats opens "1/4" and could be made to work it would seem

I see what you mean - thats a good point. The SL5 has the same sqft but the different foot print seems like it might allow for a bit more room with 2 guys and a stove.

2 things that may cause problems are the length of the existing doors may make it so you could not come outward very much without leaving a large gap at the bottom. And since the zipper does not extend all the way up it may also limit how much you could build the space out plus both of these may make it difficult to get a tight pitch.

I like the idea because of the options and hopefully a bit of extra floor space with the stove but not sure how much of a PITA it could end up being. Might shoot John with BearPaw an email and see if he has ever done anything like this before.

Thanks - figured it would be best to bounce the idea around here and see if anyone else has done this or has any other ideas.
