I looked in last threads and everything was a few years old, so bringing the topic up.

I am looking for a system that has a door lock or door bell camera, locks can be accessed via a code pad and/or RIF tag. Would like monthly subscriptions to be low or none, possible storage at home. Would like to be able to add additional cameras on in future, if decide to. Needs to work in extreme cold (-30 F), humid midwest summers and snow, and back up for when power goes out.

I have looked at Simplisafe, Ring and a few others briefly. Thanks.

I like my Yale deadbolts and connect them via a smartthings hub. For cameras, I went with "cheap" reolink units. The new ones are nice and I haven't had any issues. You can get sd storage ones that run on battery, solar, or POE. So they can each record to their own local storage, to the cloud, or you can get a NVR system and run ethernet. The NVR can be run on a battery backup for power outages.

The only issue is if you lose power, will you lose internet? I am using starlink, but that would also need to be on the battery backup to keep working.

There are quite a few doorbell cams that run on batteries, but again connectivity will depend on the wifi or POE.
