No rat, pal.

Regarding ID being overrun.... this is something that keeps getting beat to death on forums. I 100% agree that it can be frustrating to have other people hunting near you. It's irritating to crawl down into a bowl for 5 hours checking wind every twenty seconds trying to get into elk that you KNOW are there only to have some dude on a horse come crashing down the trail spooking everything within 2 miles.

Hunting pressure sucks sometimes, but it's part of the game. It makes hunting more competitive. We should do a better job of welcoming hunters onto public lands regardless of where their residency is. More hunters = more voters. More hunters = more exposure to the values we hold so dear. More hunters, hopefully, means that in 15 years when I have children of my own, they will have the same opportunities to hunt on public land as we do now.

I say all of this as a Texas resident. I don't come from money... and my family doesn't have land. The only reason I have been able to hunt in my state is because I scout a lot and knock on doors. I hunt at the benevolence of landowners. I wish that we had public land opportunity here. I'm envious of folks in Colorado, Idaho, NV, NM, and elsewhere that have the privilege to drive down the road to public hunting land and take their children out to experience an elk bugling a few yards away.

All I am trying to say.. for you folks that live in states with public access. Be generous. Be benevolent. Be grateful for other people and their interest in outdoors lifestyle. Share what has been given! I won't take this picture down if it has the potential to inspire others to get out.
