I like 6” boots, lightweight, definitely waterproof and breathable with rock solid heel capture, without that going downhill on steep terrain with weight is killer and definitely good traction.

That is a great looking boot!

1) I’m a fan of 10” boots for steep country, generally better protection & locks your heal in better.
2) non-insulated Preferred or 200-400 (max)
3) waterproof and not the “waterproof” everyone seems to stick on a boot label, I mean the real deal mountaineering boot / bombproof waterproof
4) rubber rand, one lace lock eyelet around ankle (Really helps with good fit), gator hook at bottom of laces. Aggressive tread that has some space between tread (they don’t work well if they are always clogged) and lastly I prefer a stiff boot for steep country and heavy loads on my back (I don’t buy boots like these to walk around my neighborhood )

Right on! Been curious about those Hoffmans after hearing about them last year.

1- 8” boot
2- minimally insulated 200g and non-insulated boot options. Depends on season, but generally a non insulated.
3- waterproof and mean it
4-strong lace like iron laces, roller bearing eyelets, high rubber rand, low to mid flex, full leather to ensure waterproof bootie lasts, lace locks.

Great to know a company wants to know what us end users want/need.

If I was building a perfect boot for me, I would keep the height between 8-10" for a balance of good range of movement and support. With insulation, I like it between 200-400 grams. If it was possible to map the insulation thicker around the toe box and less around the ankle that would be ideal. Durable waterproofness is absolutely crucial to good boots. Too often boots don't retain their ability to stay dry after the first season or even first hunt. Lastly, warranty and customer service make a good boot even better. Defects and issues are bound to happen, when they do stand behind your product.

What I look for in a hunting boot, is a very short list. #1: Broke in feel right out of the box. #2: Insulation. If my feet get cold, it’s gonna be a short hunt. Nothing less than 800 grams. #3: Traction. I need aggressive soles. I do a lot of walking. #4: Durability. I’m very hard on my equipment. If it can take what I put it through it’s worth every penny.
