Hipster hunting

The hipsters I know (IT types) are very smart and process oriented. Frankly, they could be a lot better for hunting than the majority of hunters riding around on ATVs.

The more people that support hunting the better. I personally try to avoid eating meat that I didn't kill mostly for ethical reasons. I'd rather see animals live free their whole lives up until the point my broadhead or bullet ends said life than see animals raised in sometimes terrible conditions for the sole purpose of consumption. Sometimes I think too much about what I eat....

Most of the hipsters I've met are just trying to cover for being poor and having been raised by single moms. With no father around to teach them any manly skills the try to fake it. They are trying too hard and I actually feel bad for many of them. I will say that they learn to fix up old bikes and I've helped a couple at my favorite beer pub learn to do basic mechanical work on their cars. Things like changing a water pump or an alternator. Once I got past their defensive persona they were happy to have someone teach them. As is illustrated in the article many are willing to get out of their comfort zone . They are obnoxious when you run into them as strangers though.

All right I just got on here and saw this comment and it royally pissed me off. I'm so sick and tired of guys thinking you ain't shit if your dad wasn't around. My dad was/is a piece of shit who has lived within 60miles of me my whole life and had nothing to do with me my whole childhood. My mother raised me and my sister by herself and I take pride in knowing that I'm a way better guy then the majority of men who had two parents in there lives and it's all because my mother taught me manners and how to be a good person. She would take me hunting and fishing before I could drive and I'm proud to say I'm the man I am today because of her.

So next time you say a dumb ass statement like the one above please think.

I guess you missed the "most"at the beginning. It may not apply to you and some mothers compensated just fine. Btw , my father is a pos who was uninvolved and moved 16 hours away when I was six. Nobody in my family hunted and I'm a complete self starter. I'm sure I have my own compensating affects that I'm not aware of but we all have our burdens. I stand by my statement beginning in "most" and not "all" .

Well then man in that case I apologize, I just assumed you meant anyone who was raised by a single mother. It's just I've either heard or had a lot of people say crap like a guy isn't a man if he grew up without a father and it just really pisses me off.

It doesn't matter a person's motivation for hunting. We all hunt differently and for different reasons.

The point stands that once they taste the hunt and feel the predatory instinct, they'll realize they're one of us and they'll vote along side us for the rest of their lives.

There is never a 100% of the time absolute cause and effect. If that was the case, from Shrek's statement we could also assume that you were a Hipster because you grew up without a father. But if you deal in probabilities.........there was truth in both statements.

We , as in the hunting community, need to find a way to connect these people to mentors . Nothing would have a more positive impact on our political future that young urban hipsters engaging in hunting and defending it in our urban cores where the majority of the anti hunting through ignorance voters are. Young , in style , urbanites as hunters changes our overall image and makes it harder to to marginalize hunters .

I take them fishing for work but work to much to take them hunting. I have referred several to some pig and turkey hunting guides that have great success and decent prices

This shows that the hipster crowd needs a better education about what words and phases mean. Grass-finished is a feed lot cow that is fed grass the last month or weeks of its life in an attempt to "cleanse" the meat. Its simply bogus. Just like the word "natural" on a food package. Meaningless marketing jargon. She wants pastured cow meat, not grass finished. Grass-fed is second to pastured as it is still potentially a feed lot cow that was not raised on corn feed.

That seems to contradict what every source I can find online defines grass finished beef as. And the cattle farm we get our beef from. Grass finished means it ate only grass until full maturity. Grass fed can mean it only ate grass prior to being butchered before full maturity or was grass fed and grain finished. Grass finished means grass from start to finish.

PS - hate one of my few posts to be of a debating nature. I'll try to balance it out with some more neutral posts!
