Hiking/Rucking pack

Need more info. What’s your budget, how much weight are you going to be carrying?

Goruck G1/G2, Kifaru Door Gunner, Kuiu Venture 2300 are the ones I use mostly with the plates. Your hunting pack is always a good option if going heavy but since we do ruck events at our gym I like the smaller packs for moderate weights (30#).

At that weight, I’d make sure you’re getting something with load lifters. Anything past around 35 gets pretty miserable without load lifters.

If you’re just carrying weight, and sometimes day hiking I’d try to find a good used frame (kifaru, SG, exo, MR) and then a load sling of some sort. Carry what you need for the day in a dry bag.

GR1 up to 40lbs. Thats what i train with. If you are taller, the GR2 is a better choice. If you are actually hunting with 30-50lbs in it, I would go with something different. GR1 is a perfect fit for a training ruck 30-40lbs. Goruck packs have a lifetime warranty for anything but zippers. If you can find a Made In Usa version, its better than the new vietnam version.

I've been rucking with 4 different backpacks. (mystery ranch mostly). While it worked fine I'm really happy that I got a dedicated rucking rig this spring - Rucker 20L + 30lb plate. It's simple, well made, and I don't have to worry about destroying even more expensive hunting packs :)

p.s and the cost for rucker 3 is quite reasonable IMHO $185. If you can catch it on sale - even better.
