It's not that the vented ones inherently fly better, per say, they are just more forgiving. Given proper arrow spine, good tune and form, you probably wouldn't notice a flight difference between the two. I've shot both extensively and I only notice a minor difference when I let off a rougher shot than usual. Non vented are stronger and quieter, but we are probably splitting hairs. Can't go wrong with either. Just personal preference.

Montec cs, would work good, I ran them at 338 fps out of an mr5 and 96 ft/lbs, arrow weight 378 from recollection, took bull moose and was able to run 3 into or thru him, tough little head, great penetration. Took a whitetail buck end of that season with my first try of reapers and been shooting those ever since, standard tip 1 3/8, tough as heck so far, love em. Lots will work well for u.

Take a look at Simmons Sharks if you want a WIDE fixed blade. They fly flawlessly for me (although at a much slower speed since I shoot traditional), even in heavy crosswinds. The design seems to keep the arrows on track and you can get them in 125 grains (not sure about 100 grains). May not be what you are looking for but I love them.

Vented are supposed to fly better then non vented.

Vented can add some noise but not sure if it is really a concern. I swear by Shuttle-T's and feel they have been an extremely consistent and the most accurate (for me) fixed blade that is tough as nails. I haven't tested many mechanicals but had excellent results with Grim Reaper Razortips.

As long as you have a well tuned bow I think you will be fine with a good quality 100gr broadhead. G5 Montecs, Muzzy Trocar, Slick Tricks, Magnus Stingers. Any of those will be a great choice for your set up.

I'm taking it in this week to get some tweaking done. I want to check my 3rd axis at full draw. Need to check cam timing again I don't think we had it set where it need to be last time. Then probably start broad head tuning

Montec or Montec CS... brutally tough, easy to get, as just about any shop has them and they fly consistently the same. I wouldn't use a rage on much of anything after seeing and hearing about the problems.

Have personally shot 6 mule deer with rage 2 blades, and have witnessed roughly 6 more. No problems to speak of. I find that they do not always give me a complete pass thru, but almost always an entry and exit hole (which are huge gaping holes). I've had blades bend on hard bone contact, like blowing through a shoulder blade, but they still did the job all the way through the animal. My wife even harvested her first mule deer with a rage 40ke last year.

I used to be very skeptical of mechanicals when they first came out, and witnessed some terrible deflections, but designs like rage and ulmer edge (just to name a couple as examples) seem to have reduced this issue.

As for larger game like elk, I've been sticking to fixed blades (montecs and strykers). I do think that the rage and ulmer edge heads would do the trick, and know of a couple guys locally that have been successful with them. I'd love to hear more feedback.
