Here I thought Ryan Lamper was one of the good guys for the hunting world…

I don't know man. I liked the guy, but to be honest none of it is surprising.

These guys are making their living via content. I would bet that you'd be hard pressed to find any "influencer" that hasn't bent or broken some rule or law for the content.

The content they're making their living off of is generally what, 5 months out of the year?

Not any excuse, and I think poachers should be executed, but not surprising in any case.
“Executed? Seriously, what’s wrong with you? Ryan will face the consequences of his mistakes—just as we all have at different points in our lives—but wishing death on someone is unacceptable. Posts like the one above cross the line and should be deleted.”

It’s getting hard to enjoy YouTube hunting videos without the pessimistic thought of what dirty little things they did to get it all done but maybe that’s just me being a curmudgeon.
I agree. There were only a few of those guys that seemed decent to me anyway…Lampers being one of them. Im done now. No more you tube hunting videos for me. They have ruined so much of what it is all about. It was about freedom, disconnecting from everyday, and putting meat in the freezer. They turned it into being hyper-connected with multiple devices, antlers, ego and money. If that’s being a curmudgeon then sign me up.

I can think of many cases where its perfectly acceptable. I'd volunteer to run the wood chipper for free for pedos and the stukachi (at least those who betray family or friends). Now the only time I think its acceptable for poachers is when they're actively hunting a protected species into extinction.

No doubt. I really used to enjoy Newberg’s do it yourself shtick until he let it slip (divulged/came clean - take your pick) that a state game and fish teamed up with the tourism board to give him a tag(s) the rest of us aren’t likely to ever draw. I still think he’s a good guy but that changed my outlook/enjoyment of his content. Not uncommon, guys start off producing good diy content and then join the cool kids group and it goes downhill from there.

For clarity, Newberg did say in the episode (AZ pronghorn hunt I think, maybe) that he did get the tag from the tourism board, he did not indicate which unit. It just made me question prior hunts where game was plentiful ( and why would they give him a tag where it’s scarce if they’re drumming up business). I still think he’s a good guy🙂
I see a certain other influencer getting more tags in my state than i do.

This thread is mostly weird with a little bit of worthwhile banter. Lost me once it started getting personal and posting the guy's house. I understand its not difficult to find this information but I also believe in a man's (and family's) right to a little privacy.

Poacher or not that's some high school drama stuff that isn't befitting of grown men claiming righteousness. Crucify me for this opinion if you want but come on guys..

Do I understand this correctly, he had tags for the game within the state. However, he killed them in a different unit than the tag was issued?
If this is correct, those calling for a lifetime ban deserves every bad thing that ever happens to you. This is a crime deserving of a stiff fine at worst. What am I missing?
This wins the most boneheaded comment on the web today.... Tags for each species and the numbers of said tags are specific to a unit for a reason. It isn't a hard concept to grasp. Maybe not all of us hunters are true conservationists.

Okay what reason is that exactly? For what reason was Unit 21 and Unit 28 separated into distinct units?

That is not possible. The "tourism board" whatever that is cannot give out tags. The Dept (AZGFD) cannot just give out tags. The only people that can authorize the Dept tags to give out is the commission and they did not do that.

To keep things on track the newberg stuff can be found here

Bro, just back away from the keyboard for a while. Give your fingers and the rest of us a break.
No, you said my honest comment was the most boneheaded comment on the web today, so I'll ask again.

This is disappointing and sad news - I enjoyed listening and watching Lampers.

I wonder why he is selling his house, bunch of equipment, and vehicles/ trailers? I mean legal fees are expensive but thats excessive. Something else brewing?

The affidavit filed with court says the reported the kills in locations in unit 28 (Gant Mountain) but that he actually killed them in locations in 21. So this rules out the boundary mix up theory. Someone in his party must have dimed him out. It also looks like his home in Belgrade has been for sale for 2 months, so maybe he knew this was coming for some time.

Maybe I should start a new thread for this but I'll just ask. For those of us that follow/see influencer types, do you need them to get a big animal every year, or is it enough to know they are a good hunter and some years you just don't get anything?

I don't need to see Robby shoot a 200" buck every year to still believe he's a great mule deer hunter and knows what he's doing.
I agree. I appreciate when they post an “unsuccessful “ hunt video. Half the time im just watching for the scenery anyway
