And often times I find 20X not enough. In reality it comes down to what and where you are hunting and what you are looking for. Sometimes being able to count browtines on a moose for instances not only saves you from stalking several miles to get into "bino range" to judge if the moose is not just a trophy but legal (has enough browtines on one side). Other times if you are just looking for a bull caribou, elk or buck then yeah just a set of binos will work just fine. But only you can know what balance in optics you need. I am never mad I hauled the spotter along when I want to look over an animal over more carefully. If a 4.5 pound spotter has you bummin, please don't shoot anything ;)

I agree. If I get 15's I still plan on carrying the spotter. I found a deer at 1800 yards with the 10x42's and used the spotter to find out it was a doe.

I would never ever trade out a 10x bino and a spotter for a set of 15x only. I've got 8x Ultravids, 10-15 Duovids, 10x Victory FLs, and a 62mm Diascope and almost always end up with the 10x and spotter combo.

I have never used 12x50 was thinking about picking up the Razor's. Can you glass off hand with them or do you only glass of a tripod. Currently have 10x42 and use a trekking pole when glassing at distance.

I had the 12x50 razors. I found them pretty difficult to stabilize on the move, doable, but difficult, especially if my heart rate was up.

Yes, depends on how you plan to utilize them.. I will however say that the viper HD 15x50's are not what you pay for, I bought em, and two days aiding on a high country mule deer hunt went back to local sportsmanswarehouse and got my money back. Long story short, I have encountered a few others who have done the same thing when purchasing these binos. Note, I have the viper 10x42, it's like a totally different glass especially in the dawn and dusk... I'm saving my money for some Swarovski SLC 15x56, and be done with it.

I have been using 12X50 Razors the past two seasons. Coming from uber light 10X32s the power to optical zoom is actually heavier than the 10X32s so I seem to hold the 12X50s steadier. I really appreciate the extra detail I get from the 12X and at 27-28 oz they are just as light as much 10X42s. I really enjoy them. Be hard for me to justify jumping up to anything else given how well these work for me.
