I’m looking to suppress a 223 tikka, and I’m going to have a 6gt barrel for my origin here in a couple months, so far I have been looking at the dd st-I, the tbac ultra 7 gen 2 6.5, and the sico scythe, what do you guys recommend I look at?

Wait till the Unknown Suppressor is released to see what it’s like. It is basically designed for your calibers and hunting.

I plan on getting one or more. I like what @Ryan Avery is doing with it. And, what I have heard about it here and through grapevines.

If it doesn’t deliver, I will try the AB Raptor with reflex.

Otherwise, the ones you mentioned are common picks. I have and love the Ultra 7 and really like diligent defense’s Wolf Hunter. Scythe has had its problems but performs.

I have the Dead Air Nomad Ti XC (not mentioned on your list). Not sure how it would perform with 223/6.5, but it's great on my 18" 308. Now this is the only suppressor I've fired on a hunting rifle, so take that as you will, but I love mine. I was waiting for the Ultra 7 to come back in stock when I was looking to purchase, but I picked up the Nomad instead so I could have it in time before last season's big game hunts.

The UM can or an AB Raptor 8.

I would avoid the Scythe personally, it offers almost nothing over the Raptor 8. You can shoot 6 mm through a 223 AB Raptor, but I'd just go with a 30 cal.

Do a Google map search to see if there's a manufacturer within an agreeable drive from you.

Why? I'm struggling to think of a though process for this in regards to a can, a rifle, etc. We're not talking gunsmith work or something where in person coordination offers some benefit.

You may be able to go look at it, talk to who made it, try before you buy and have an easy time of getting it serviced if necessary. That's the case around here with a couple.

That is interesting. What brands have onsite firing ranges they allow customers to test fire their cans? That'd be useful info for folks in those areas.

Thunderbeast has been in the precision rifle can business for a very long time, and has a sterling reputation for a very good reason. Not the latest and greatest fad for sure, but they’re robust, light, dependable, and repeatable.

I myself have an Ultra 5. It doesn’t damage my hearing. It’s tiny. It doesn’t make my rifles less accurate. And it speeds my bullets up. Highly recommended!

I second the Mack Bros Zenith. Mine is the standard length. It's not the quietest thing around, but that is not my first measure of a good suppressor. Good recoil mitigation, minimal POI change, decent sound suppression, and the service at Mack Bros is excellent.

One of the better suppressors that doesn't get much attention is the CGS Helios in titanium, if you don't want to get a reflex suppressor.

That said, my next suppressor will be the Unknown Munitions can. There's too much going on with it that's oriented around hunting not to give it a shot. Everything seems to have a very practical, well though-out reason behind it, for the realities of big game hunting. Instead of just being another repurposed or rehashed "tactical" suppressor.

Wolfhunter hands down for 223 and 6mm. One of my favorites and its very reasonable and comes with both a 5/8" and 1/2" endcap.

AB Rapter 10 stack in .762 - sits on a ruger american preditor .243 with 16.25" barrel, shoots/groups great. I reload and can't find a load that isn't sub moa. 65 gr V-Max, 90 gr ELD-X, 80 gr CX all shoot great. Sound suppression is great too, can shoot it all day long without other ear protection

AB Rapter 8 stack in .762 - sits on a ruger american gen ii 6.5 creedmoor. Can clover leaf 100 gr ELD-VT reloads all day long off bench at 100 yds. My 13 year old daughter rings steal consistently at 250 yrds with it. Sound suppression is also great. I also put this on a Browning A-Bolt .270, brings groups from 1.5 MOA to average .75 MOA and tames the recoil nicely

AB Rapter 6 stack in .556 - sits on a daniel defense AR, groups well but any suppressor on an AR platform isn't going to suppress sound as good as a bolt gun.

Diligent Defense Wolf Hunter in 6mm - sits on a different Ruger American Preditor in .243. Doesn't seem to group as well as the Rapter 10 stack, but sound suppression is really good.

I put the Rapters on a 22 LR bolt gun with subsonic ammo, my Gamo pellet rifle is louder........

Of these 4 I give the nod to the Rapter 8 stack for over all length and sound suppression

I've got a banish backcountry on the way, will add to the list after I get a chance to try it out on all the rifles
