Help me choose the "right" tripod!

I know this topic has been discussed and I have searched through different threads on this. Having said that, there are so many tripods out there....it is truly overwhelming!! I am looking at using a tripod for shooting (Arca mount) mostly standing and then for using my Bino's, rangefinder and future spotting scope. I'm not looking to spend RRR money as I simply would not use it enough (I'm not a hunter). I tend to overbuy and have looked at Leofoto, Slik, etc. Any experience and guidance would be appreciated!! Looking to stay under $500.

How tall are you?
How far will you carry it?
Do you want compact?
Do you want a “bowl”?
Do you want max stability over everything else?

The inverted leg tripods with only two leg sections are the most stable. Just depends if you value any feature that makes you compromise off that. Go as heavy as you can for stability, especially standing.

Leofoto are really good. I have been using them and they have been used by friends for years.

The new Faneu on Amazon seem good at first impression, I am trying one out.

I purchased the RRS SOAR system and love how stable it is and not very heavy. I shoot 28 Nosler and 30-378 off mine. I know they are expensive but you will only buy once

I'm usually over buy and subscribe to buy once cry once, but RRR (and maybe Two Vets) is just too much tripod for my use. I just built a Kidd custom rimfire rifle and will use a tripod for shooting and glassing my property.

Leofoto 324C with the MA40X comes in right at 4lbs and $500. No ball head will be great with a spotting scope but for shooting and binos this setup is excellent. If when you purchase a spotter you want to maximize performance you could add something like the Aziak vantage pan head that easily clips into and out of the MA40x head to use with the spotter.

Awesome! Thanks....I've looked at the Leofoto inverted tripod with the MH-xx head. I'll take a look at the MA40x as well. The MH series has a small handle that could be very useful.

I primarily chose this one because it folded up nice and compact and was fairly lightweight. I use the fluid head for my spotter or bino's and the ball head when attaching my rifle. The ball head is used 90% of the time since it is way more easier (and faster) when using in mountain conditions when you need to level your rifle. It is also adequate when using bino's.

I rarely take my spotter in the mountains anymore due to trying to reduce weight. It now has a dedicated and much larger/heavier tripod and rarely gets more than 200 yards from the truck. The Fluid head lives on this one.

If I were to do it over again, I would get one that has all the features of the SURUI ST-124, BUT has the ability to remove the center post. The long center post prohibits you from using it prone. The center post is triangular rather than round. I am in the process of trying to figure out a way to shorten it so that I can use it prone.

I primarily use it sitting to get over the brush, but would like the option to use prone when/where possible. I am 6'4" and it is tall enough for me to use standing for shooting or spotting with an angled eyepiece.

I would get the inverted Leofoto. I believe it’s the 362. Then get their version of the anvil 30. Great shooting setup.
