For sheep, minimum 6.5mm.

Since you want to shoot beyond 400 yards, I would go with the 6.5 PRC for the added velocity.

If you think you will use this for Mountain Goats or Elk, the 280 AI or 7mm Rem Mag would be my choice.

Don't get too wrapped up in the cartridge debate. Bullet choice and impact velocity is more important than the delivery system.

ELD-X, VLD-H, or TGK for cup & core.

Terminal Ascent, Scirocco II, or Accubond for a more robust, bonded bullet.

I voted for the 7-08 of the options listed, that should be a great option in that barrel length. I agree with others about considering the 280 AI. I am a 7mm rem mag fan but in a 22 inch barrel, I would lean 280 AI or 7mm-08. Good luck, they look like awesome rifles. I have the original ridgeline in a 7mm rem mag and love it. With the weight of these new ones, a 7-08 is very tempting.

I just got mine in 280 AI. Its a sweet stick. I have a feeling its going to end up being one of my go tos.

I already have a BA tactical in 6.5 PRC or else I might have gone that route. I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these cartridges.

Of those choices I voted 7mm-08. I lost count of the whitetail I shot earler in life with a 708; Dall sheep are similar size and have much less toughness IMO. I would turn it into an AI immediately and shoot the 120g Nosler Ballistic Tip. That is an interesting rifle, must be some sort of suppressor ready configuration; I don’t see the sense of Nosler and RUM chamberings with a 22” barrel.

I have been down the Christensen road before - as has my brother. Both rifles shot patterns rather than groups and Christensen was less than helpful. Find a better option…

This forum seems to be one of the few that doesn’t like Christensen. I have had nothing but great results from mine. I voted for the 270. Still an amazing cartridge. Not the most efficient bullets. I wish they’d build one in a 6.8 western. But if I were you I’d consider a 300wsm. The 6.5 PRC is an amazing choice as well. After owning a few I can see it being the last rifle I’d ever sell.

Crazy - how long ago was that? They had some QC issues before bringing the barrel manufacturing in house. Between me and my buddies we own over a dozen of them. All shoot 1/2 moa or better with factory ammo. This is my BA Tactical in 6.5 PRC. This is repeatable. I have never seen one that didnt shoot better than MOA 🤷🏻‍♂️ Some people just aren’t moa or better shooters either, so its important to take accuracy complaints with a grain of salt. my christensen shot fine. but the actions are meh and the stocks well there junk. i haven't handled the new FFT but if its the same geometry as the ridgelines and shitty spot bedding ill pass
for the price of them there's better options out there.
however i do like their barrels.

That’s impressive. This was in the 2016 timeframe. I agree that the actions are less than impressive and the stocks remind me of the factory Tikka stock too. I’d rather buy a Sako for the money.
