Hello all, I have a friend who is starting to get into hunting and is on the search for a pack frame. My experience with packs and pack frames itself is pretty limited. I know what I have and what works for me, but more or less ceased to research or look after I had it "figured out" for me. I know there's a lot of good knowledge on here, so maybe some of you folks can help me steer her in the right direction.
We're NOT looking for a day pack here. Rather, something that would be suitable for a couple day trip, or possibly a week. A meat shelf is definitely somewhat of a necessity. I don't think that massive capacity is essential here. She's around 5'6" and weights maybe 150 pounds. My friend and I both run the MR Metcalf. That pack and frame seem to fit her reasonably well, although setting it up for her was done in the field in short order for a couple hundred-yard run on fairly flat ground to help haul out an antelope. It should also be mentioned that we're trying to keep cost within a few hundred bucks. Of course, given the time of the year, this might be more easily achievable. Feel free to throw out your offers as well. Thanks!
