HELP APPLIANCE INPUT!

We bought a GE Cafe induction range. 9 months in and already had the entire motherboard thing replaced. Repair guy said induction isn’t reliable. I love the induction range. I might not love the repair costs.

Ford, Chevy, Dodge.................................................... We have had most major brands. Good luck with some, not so good with others. Samsung washer and dryer, Dryer was good, a lot of problems with the washer. Replaced with Maytag and never again. Tons of problems with the washer, I was fixing it 2-3 times a year, after 2 control boards I could have replaced it for what I spent on parts. Replaced that with an LG and zero issues with that after 3 years, there are 6 in my house, 4 teenage boys. The washer and dryer run pretty much non stop. I like the LG. On the washer you choose, make sure it has an easily accessible filter. The maytag you had to pull the entire front of the washer off to clean the filter. It was a 2 hour project for something that needs done frequently and should take 45 seconds.

Fridge, been through 2 of those and am buying a third tomorrow. Kenmore the icemaker and water dispenser quit working after 3 years, I just replaced it an put it in the basement. We needed a bigger one anyway. It i,s still cooling fine, 13 years old. Whirlpool, 10 years old, quit cooling 2 weeks ago, $1700 to repair. Will replace with another Whirlpool. It should still work but the features we want are all covered in the Whirlpool.

Kenmore stove gas stove, 15 years old, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It has control board issues and the oven doesn't always work. If you turn it off it has always worked correctly when you turn it back on. I'll just replace it when it quits.

Dishwasher have had Kenmore, whirlpool and Bosch. The bosch has been the best hands down. The other two lasted about 3 years. This one is going on 9.

Microwave, don't spend much. Went through 2 of those, Kenmore, Whirlpool. Bought a cheap one at Menards that matches color and it has been the best by far.

Appliances are not built like they used to be, they wear out quickly. With youtube, if you are handy, you can fix most things yourself on any of them. The question becomes do you want to put a $400 part into an aging appliance.

I've found that all of the major brands have issues. Unless you get a lemon there are common issues within each appliance. I would recommend finding a set that you like, take some time and put in the model number of each one and google problems with that model number. You will find out real quick what the issues are because once you've had an issue and start researching, everyone is having that issue. Certain parts on certain models just have problems.

My biggest recommendation is to buy local from someone that also has a service department. This is way more important than brand IMO. Getting people out to work on them is tough. If you buy from the same place that services them it is way faster, way less hassle and they generally will have parts on hand. You buy from a big box store and have a warranty issue good luck. You have to deal with the parent company, they may or may not have anyone in your area that does service for them. If they don't it is going to be an absolute nightmare. You buy from a store with a service dept. you can generally get someone in 1-2 days. You buy from Lowes it's gonna be 2 weeks, or never. The parent company has certified shops they are affiliated with, you may not have one local.

Research every model number for common problems. Buy local from a store with a service department.

Moved into our house 14 years ago. We have been through 4 refridgerators in that time. Meanwhile, the 30 yr old garage fridge just keeps on working. Same for the 40 yr old deepfreezer. New stuff is crap.

Stay clear of all big box stores, buy from a small private dealer that can provide warranty service.

Big box stores farm out warranty service to these places anyway, and the cheaper prices are for cheaper models.

I wish Speed Queen made kitchen appliances. The nice thing about their washer is it can be serviced. We have six young kids and I pour concrete. Our wash machine is abused with filthy work cloths and I’m not sure it ever stops running, but it keeps on trucking. It is ugly though.

Built my house in 2020

Thermador gas 5 burner range and oven - replaced the ignitor once and the thermal lockout switch once. Parts are interchangeable with ge, so cheap and easy to get to.
Thermador over the range microwave, made a loud pop one day and stopped working. They replaced most of the electronics in it under warranty.
Bosch dishwasher - no repairs
Bosch fridge, kids broke the little flap between the fridge doors, part was like 140. Kids also broke the flapper that senses how much ice is in the tray, fixed that with duck tape.
Maytag top load washer - no issues
Maytag electric dryer - roller went bad at year 5, $200 repair

Do not get LG. Have spent too much time on the phone for warranty repairs, replacement parts and dealing with them. Had Washer, dryer, stove/oven, fridge and microwave. Only thing still hanging on is the microwave.

Speed Queen washer & dryer have been working for the past 8 years without issue. Same goes for my Miele dishwasher. Recently redid the kitchen so I had to purchase a new stove. I wanted the most simple gas range without electronics. Wife wanted induction. We'll see how long the Jennair last, quite frankly I'm not holding my breath. Luckily we were able to buy from a local scratch and dent store and they have their own service department which I hear is really good so at least we have warranty support. If I had the money to blow it would be a Blue Star or Thermador gas only range.

We have LG fridge, range/oven, microwave, and dishwasher. They all work great. A water carrying piece on the dishwasher either cracked on install or transit (I installed) and LG had a new one to us in two days after a ten minute phone call. They even sent two saying it is the most common issue with that unit.

I wish we would have gotten speed queen laundry stuff, but someone wanted a side load. Side loads suck and smell; I am certain that we are just washing our clothes in leftover bacteria and fungus.

I did a kitchen remodel about 10 years ago.
Bought a full suite of KitchenAid and they were good.
The 36" gas range was Electrolux.
I would recommend.
I am now in a rental with an induction range-Samsung
Garbage...unpredictable heat delivery and warped my good French carbon pans.
I hate induction.
Go gas if you can.

Our Speed Queens have been disappointing. The dryer as reported on page 1 can burn stuff. The washer backfeeds foam up from the drain tube and is rusty inside on the edges.

We will be buying a commercial unit next time around. Sales folks tell us on all appliances, 7 years.

Doesn't make me excited at all about buying them! Lol.
