Fun definitely does go here to die, but, thankfully, I'm in the northwestern portion of the state so it's not as bad as it could be. I already have a lot of what I'll need from my backpacking trips, but the stuff that I'm looking into will cost me a fair amount. Buy once, cry once though as the saying goes. I'm looking into a tarptent/bivy combo, a new backpack, some new threads that I'll use around here for whitetails too, and some new optics - specifically a spotter/tripod (never had a need for one around here). I'm keeping my eyes open for deals, and with the amount of time I have before the trip I'm hoping to spread some of the expenses out.

Hey there. Also from jersey. Just did my first DIY OTC elk hunt a few months ago in Colorado. Did not arrow an elk but saw some and got pretty close to them. My only advice... don't wait till 2016! Its too much fun!
