I use the pad because it's not comfortable without one. Cold hasn't been an issue.

I’m not sure why but for me the cot is more comfortable then a pad. A pad just isn’t comfortable.

Were all different. My two hunting partners wouldn't leave home without them. I won't carry mine across the street.
