Been doing some searching and can't come up with what I would consider the perfect fleece midlayer. This would be for a layer over a grid fleece and under a windproof jacket. I have looked at most technical hunting brands and hiking brands and can't make up my mind. I bought and sold the SItka Traverse which was about perfect I just didn't want it in a camo pattern. I may just end up buying another one or getting the KUIU Strongfleece. I prefer non hunting brands but am open to anything. Looking for more of the 300g to 400g weight and cut for bowhunting. This will primarly be used for static hunting or walking in in extremely cold weather. Thanks!!

It isn’t fleece, but the Duckworth Powder hoodie is my favorite layer ever.
That was an option that I looked at. How warm would you consider it to be? Like a heavyweight sweatshirt? Also, does it resist wind at all? I tried the Origin stealth wool jacket and it didn't even feel like I was wearing a layer with how much wind it was letting in.

No wind resistance. I wore it on a backpacking trip in February and even when not moving for a while, I was good in just the hoodie and a light base down to the high thirties. It’s not a layer I can move in for very long.

What I use in that case is a vest. I have a Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer down vest. I usually wear it when it is below 0 skiing. It keeps me warm when active and the vest prevents me from overheating. I have seen some of the fleece vests if you prefer that over down.

American Giant is a company that sells USA made apparel and they have some hoodies that are very heavy. I have 2 I use for outdoor work when its cold. I think you're asking for something that is going to be tough to find: a non-hunting company piece but a bowhunters cut.

I have an old (probably 10 or more years old) Columbia fleece jacket that I use for layering sometimes. Not grid fleece. More like pile fleece. Wind goes right through it. Layered under something, it adds quite a bit of insulation. They might be a company to look at. Thanks. -Rufus
