I haven't heard very good things about the hornady CX. Barnes lrx seem to do better.

Can you expand?

I havent found much about them, but I have used the GMX on a big WT and a cow elk. Both died very quickly. Recovered the WT one in the offside hide, not much left. But the deer was literally 5yds from the muzzle and i blew through both shoulders.

If I was forced to use a mono, I guarantee that it wouldn't be a Hornady or Nosler. I've seen both of them do some really weird, unexplainable things on deer and elk.

I have shoot deer at 498 and 572 both fell instantly and didn't move. I shoot them out of a 7mm sherman max at 3200 fps. i have been shooting the 151 gr. i am working on the 170 have gotten 2900 fps with retumbo still working my way up.

Those PVAs are supposedly designed to tumble after impact, which would be a good thing for a mono bullet terminally. Do you recall observing the wound path and whether tumbling was occurring?

Don't know about the tumbling. First 2 are the 572 buck third picture is the exit on the 498. It's definitely larger than caliber. I have never recovered a bullet yet.

Looks like alot of hydrostatic shock, can you share the load you were using? And approximate velocity at impact?

600 yards is 2067 fps on the sig app. That is at 100 feet above sea level. I shot the deer at 8200 feet elevation. I know 1k yards at home is 24.75 moa, and when I ranged a rock at 1088 in the mountains, it was 19.25 moa.

That's from memory. I know the powder and charge is correct. Might be little off on the col.

Where did you read that info about tumbling?

Josh the owner of PVA stated it in the original thread over on Sniper’s Hide. I had just bought some but after that statement I decided not to bother with them and moved on to Hammers instead.

I'm thinking of trying out the 160cx in my 7 PRC. I've got a good 175eld-x load already but it would be nice to find a good copper load too.
