New hunting dog on the way, I’m looking for an alternative to Milk Bone, Pepperoni, Jerky Treats and other pet store staples.

What healthy dog treats are you giving your dog? Either home made or store bought suggestions are appreciated!

The thing that we do and work unbelievably well is we save our trimmings and silverskin, etc, from deer and elk, freeze dry them, and then feed them in smaller pieces. They absolutely love it. We've got probably 6 sealed gallon sized bags right now, so we should uptick our disbursement.

They go nuts for them.

Free range cat sh@t, apparently.

Zukes and string cheese for training. Pig ears and chicken jerky (both Costco) as a treat, now and then a bone (game animal when I have them, stock/marrow bones from the grocer when not).

I do raw carrots, dehydrated liver and meat trimmings, Achilles tendon from beef. All of which I get for free except the carrots. I also take the left over bone and fat from the bandsaw and then cook it like hamburger, put in a container and mix in with dry food.
