Have you hunted with ELD Match bullets

Yea guess so Your experience sounds like
How they are supposed to go. My step dad shoots a 6 arc. All the animals he has shot with the 103 ELDx they never exit. On the animals he has used the 108 ELDMs he always gets pass thrus Seems like the 108 ELDMs hold together better and penetrate better.

Kind of weird
The faster a bullet decelerates the wider the wound profile. Is it possible lower velocities allow the jacket to hold a wider profile that would in turn decelerate faster?

LIttle update here. The two rifles I am playing with now, shoot the ELD-X bullet essentially as well as Berger VLDs. Well actually the 6.5 PRC shoots the ELD Xs but will not shoot the Bergers.

I did not try to work loads up for the ELD-Ms, but loaded a few with the same load as the ELD-Xs for both guns. That did not work lol. The group size blew up like a road kill whitetail in August.

143 ELDX has a different ogive profile than 140 ELDM and may require tweaking between loads.

Could see this. Or the interlock ring and thicker jacket keeps it at a wider profile and thus penetrates less than the thinner jacket that might not stay together or fold back to create a narrower profile.

Yes it does, but I am staying with ELD X - shoots really well and I am honestly tired of tweaking that particular rifle. Others, maybe I will try the M.

143 ELDX is an excellent bullet. In most cases it's about $5 more per box than 140 ELDMs but no biggie.

My current 6.5 cm and 6.5 SAUM shoot the 143 eld-x, 140 eldm, and 147 eldm very differently, and these are not picky barrels. They are not interchangeable in my experience.

My Bartlein doesnt like the 140 ELDMs fat nose. The more sleek, secant ogive of the 143 and 147 does a lot better in my new barrel.

I have not killed anything with a eldm yet. I've killed plenty of deer with Amax's. 6mm, 7mm, 30 cal. I've loaded for my brother and his buddy, 105 Amax in .243, all DRT. Nothing has ever gone anywhere once shot. 75 yards to 250 yards.

4 Deer killed with the 147 ELDM last year in our family. None went even 5 yards. 2 Mulies and 2 whitetails. All bucks. Closest was 324 Yards and Farthest was 525 Yards. Absolutely love the 147 in the PRC.
