There were some reports that Kyrgyzstan was going to be closed to hunting in the Naryn area starting this fall. Did that happen? If it didn’t did anyone go yet?

Kyrgyzstan remained open, but some regions had later opening dates than in the past.

Kazakhstan does have big ibex in certain areas, but so does Kyrgyzstan. And in Kyrgyzstan, you don't have to pay for trophy shipping and expediting or for additional costs including a weapon import permit or for an export cites as these are included. Additionally, in Kyrgyzstan you pay one flat rate for any size of trophy you take. That will be hard to find in Kazakhstan.

It was heavily poached out by the outfitter's guides.

One friend went 3 times. Ended up in jail for a week once, wasn't allowed off the airplane the 2nd time and shot a nice billy on the 3rd trip.

Not sure I'd go after getting out of the jail.

Spending a week in a Kyrgyzstan jail? No thanks.

Why can't more of these amazing animals inhabit non-sketchy countries?

There were two periods of hunting stability in Iran. The 1960's before the Iran Hostage deal, and in the early 2000's.

Iran is the king of mountain sheep and ibex for variety. I can't remember but I think it is 5 sheep and 4 ibex.

Pakistan is also like that, blue sheep, ibex, marcher and wild sheep.

That is shocking to hear! When were these hunts?

My trip to Kyrgyzstan was incredible.

I am not going to name outfitter/agent names. But the agent is not from the USA, they are from Canada.
