Has anybody cut off the thumb hole portion of a sweatshirt or grid fleece? I personally don’t like them or the extra material that bulks up when layering and am thinking of chopping it right above the wrist line where its sewed.

I personally love thumb holes. Helps when putting on extra layers and provides extra warmth when I leave behind gloves. If you don't like them by all means alter your clothes to what you would like. My grid fleeces have slightly different thumbholes than what you show in your pic, more like just a gap in the seam of the sleeve. looks like you would loose the "cuff".

I quit buying things with those kind of thumb holes, mostly because it makes the sleeves far too long. I like the way sitka and some other companies do it with the small piece of elastic that doesnt increase sleeve length. I also only bowhunt, and dont like gloves or anything else covering my hands.

Id at least fold it under and have someone sew it, then cut off the excess so you have a bit of a cuff. If you dont reinforce the material a bit itll just keep stretching out.
