For those of you with the Hanwag Alaska boots - would you recommend going up a half-size in them? I have measured my foot using a Brannock device (the length and width measuring device that all shoe stores have) at a 10.5 D while wearing wool socks. My left foot was closer to a 10D, while my right was a 10.5D. Would you guys that have owned them go with the 10.5 or maybe an 11? I can get them for an extremely good price, the only problem is - I can't return them. I'm hoping to pull the trigger on some, but I want to get the sizing right! I guess if they didn't fit, I could sell them on here...

I wear a 10 1/2 and bought a pair of those and the right one was narrow and the left one fit well, took them to the boot store, Had width stretched but still had to return them. I probably have 10 pairs of boots and those are the only ones I've ever had that happen with

Thanks for the feedback... I might just have to pull the trigger on some 10.5's and see how they work out...

Got my Hanwags today - can't wait to start wearing them! I'll report back with my thoughts after the holidays...

Anyone have any additional thoughts on the Alaska GTX? I was trying them on today and loved them. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with durability

Schaaf I hunted with them this last year they are nice boot. Im definiely not as active as some of these younger bucks but I have no complaints at all very little break in period. I stomped around in streams mud and side hilled with them. They fit my feel great and no hot spots.

I've had a pair for the past few months. I've gone on two sheep hunts with them and I'm now totally in love with those boots. I haven't had any durability issues so far and I've put them through some pretty rocky and rough terrain here in southern NM. I wear a size 11 in most shoes including the Hanwags. That being said, I also don't wear thick socks with my boots due to the heat down here.

Thanks for the input, guys. I've got it narrowed down to the Lowa Tibet or the Hanwag Alaskans. I'm gonna go try them on again today to check and see one last time

So long as they fit your feet I don't think you can lose either way! Both are great boots!

YEP...Owned them both, can't go wrong with either. Try both on and go with what "feels" right. I sized up in my Han Wags to get little more width. Though they are both great boots, I prefer the Lowa Bighorns to either of these.

After wearing mine on a number of 6 mile hikes, I wish mine were a half size longer and a bit wider in the toe box. I haven't tried them with thin socks yet...
