hamskea hybrid hunter

anyone have feedback? Cant find much info on it yet. I am getting a new bow and want to get a new arrow rest. Currently have been using a whisker biscuit and looking to increase accuracy. Going to be a hunting rig. My other interests are between the trophy taker smack down pro and Qad ultra rest. Thanks

All three are excellent choices. I have all three all 3 of them and would be happy with any of them, that said the next one I buy will be another Smackdown Pro. Quiet, tunes easily and I prefer the limb driven rest.

Just took my QAD off this weekend and put the hybrid hunter on. Only got to shoot a couple arrows and haven't done any paper tuning yet but first impressions are good.

I have put a ton of arrows through my hybrid over the last month or so and it is my first limb driven set up. Previously used TT and RipCord Ace. My thoughts, and remember I'm not a pro shot or tuner...

-Easy to install and set up
-launcher is pretty quiet, but does make some noise, a quiet day in a treestand at very close range might be bad.
-Launcher wear is real, and it can wear inconsistently. Wear does diminish after a hundred or so arrows, but I did readjust for height and centershot which seemed to increase wear again. Once I had it set up at centershot I installed a new launcher, which again wore down and it bugged me, along with the noise, so I bought a metal Hamskea launcher and filed it down to size and put felt on it so it would be silent and not wear. Is this necessary or a launcher design flaw? Probably not but it bugged me because I am pretty OCD about my gear.
-The launcher came up real early in the draw cycle (immediately) if set to limb distance spec on my Nitrum. Fletch clearance wasn't an issue, but I felt form inconsistencies or torque might be influencing the arrow if it was on the rest nearly the whole way off the bow. Again, is it an issue? I have no idea (inconsistent tears), but I decided to try to make the rest come up a little later (moved cord to nearly centered on limb), which is really now more in spec in terms of the rate at which it comes up than it was when 3 inches from the limb end.
-Hamskea customer service is great. I called a couple times with questions and they fielded them completely and mailed me my launchers and felt in short order. They are top notch.

Overall I think the rest is of very high quality and I have high hopes for it. I have some other tuning and shooting kinks I need to work out though before I can say it is the way I will be going. Better shooters/tuners than I will hopefully provide more info...

thats disappointing to hear about the launcher wear after so few shots. hmmm

Hamskea says that the wear is normal and will subside after the initial break-in period (even in the instructions). Again, in my experience it did subside until I adjusted the rest later, at which point it began again for a shorter duration. I will again stress that I am not sure if it affected my shooting or tuning, but it did cause me concern, hence the metal launcher and ghetto file job. My advice is to not hold it against the launcher or have it prevent you from buying one until someone more experienced than I said something about a definite problem that it presents. Hamskea is upfront about it and besides, I don't think they would stake their stellar reputation on an inferior product that will fail to perform every bit as good as the versa rest.

I've been shooting Hamskea rests since they came out. I really like the new hybrid Hunter. Lighter and more simple than the Versa rest.

I really like the new launcher too as you don't have to use felt! That's the best part

I have about 2k arrows through my hamskea hybrid hunter so far. It has worked great and I have not noticed any launcher wear yet.

The only issue I've had is that I had to use a bracket from tight spot to get my quiver up and back away from the rest housing (if that what you call it) to keep the tight spot from rubbing it. No big deal, just something I ran into.

Why wouldn't you put felt on the launcher before the first shot anyway? why wear out the launcher?

The new launcher makes it so you don't need to use felt! Before when you had a metal one felt was required. That's what is neat about the new ones! No felt required
