In the market for a new quilt and noticed too late that Enlightened Equipment was having a good sale. I see Hammock quilts are less expensive. Does anyone have opinions on either? Is it worth the extra cash for Enlightened. I already called to see if they could offer the sale price and they said "No". Thanks. In the market for a zero degree quilt.

My girlfriend and I both have EE quilts. They are incredible pieces of equipment. They are light, well made, and unbelievably warm. Hers is newer and even lighter than mine. Since the accomplice has come out I plan on purchasing one of those for us next spring. I dont think you will be disappointed with an EE quilt

On the one hand, I have a Hammock Gear Burrow 20* and it is awesome. On the other hand, I have an EE RevelationX. It too is awesome. So, I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I looked at all the dimensions before I bought my last EE, and the EE was bigger and longer if I remember correctly. So I'd just assess what size you want and go with whichever one can do that. I have 3 EE's now and they're great. Actually one is my wife's, which is great for her.

Can't speak to the EE, but I bought an HG Burrow 20 with extra fill and it is awesome. I typically used mummy bags and wonder why I didn't switch a long time ago.
When funds allow, I will be ordering another for warmer weather and possibly one to use as a "throw" blanket for the living room. Remember HG offers roksliders a discount with the discount code.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know crabby, thanks. Someone mentioned under ground quilts to me also. Too many choices.

I have a marmot helium 15 degree and an underquilt for my hammock. wonder if I could just have someone that can sew convert them to one heck of a nice Quilt...? anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Or maybe I should try to sell them and just have one built.. ugh more $$$$$$$$$$$$

I dont hang yet but do have an EE from about 3 years ago. Then got another overstuffed. I am actually thinking of doing a zero with overstuff. Still lighter than other options but not my too much. Atleast your not crushing down.

Tim is suler customer friendly and seems to run a true cottage business.

So some advice then. I have a Marmot Plasma zero bag 2lbs 7 oz. I want a set up I can use in the winter to get me through -10 to -15 temps and in warmer weather too. I was thinking of either getting rid of my Marmot and getting a zero degree quilt, then wearing down pants and jacket while sleeping or keeping the bag and getting a 30-35 degree quilt, and putting that over my Marmot bag on cold temps. When its warm, I can just vent with the quilt. Has anyone done either of these? systems?

You need an underquilt if sleeping in a hammock or you'll suffer CBS *cold butt syndrome). There are numerous UQs on the market and many guys convert down sleeping bags for this as well. I worked with a guy to create a multi-application underquilt suitable for the NW Territory.

The Underdoobie is a combination of military poncho, poncho liner, and shelter half, sleeping bag, hunting/spotting blind, with the added functionality of use as a hammock underquilt and as a hammock top quilt or ground quilt. If you want to know what it can do, just search the Web for what a poncho or tarp can do, then add a hammock. Very versatile piece of kit.
