Is anyone having good accuracy and velocity with H1000 200-215 gr. bullets with a 300 wsm long action? I searched here and nothing came up so I thought I would start this. 22” McGowen #6 barrel 1:9 twist suppressed with a nomad. COL 3.200”
I started loading for my 300 wsm with 200 gr. eldx with N560 65.5-67.0 in .05 increments average velocity 2733,2744,2754&2789 from 5 shots each except 67.0 and that was only 2 shots recorded but was the best size 5 shot group at 1-1/2".
Next H4350 61.5-63.0 again.05 increments 2777,2778,2818. I stopped at 62.5 because the bolt lift was heavy and the group was vertical stringing 3" and 2" left of POA @ 200yards. 62.0 produced a decent 2" group that looked like I could improve.
I only loaded 1group because I wanted to see how slow it would be and it’s an older opened container H1000 71 gr. 5 shot average 2799. This also was a 2" group. Hodgdon site has data from 70.0-72.0gr.
If anyone has knowledge on this caliber and bullet weight class with these powders I would like to discuss what you have learned. Thnx

I've tried h4350, h4831 and h1000. 4350 was the accuracy winner for sure. I didn't rock the 215 this time because the 200.20x shoots well and is available.20220616_163139.jpg

200.20x and 208 ELDm with RL23 has been very consistent for me. Getting 2845fps from the 200.20x and 2815fps from the 208 ELDm in my 24" WSM in a medium action. RL26 and N560 have been good too with a little better velocity, but RL23 has just been super steady.

I’m trying 200.20x too. How far off the lands have you had luck with? Sorry, don’t mean to hijack the thread.

I’m also using IMR7828SSC with heavier bullets. I have a ton of H1000 and would also like to try it

I have spun up 3 of these in the last few months. I have one on a la sako that I can kiss and two other sa guns and they are about .025 off.

Every one will shoot with .050" mag clearance well. Notice the barrel on the proof target is a 21" stainless tube.

H1000 is just pretty slow burning for a 300wsm which is probably why you're not finding data. H4381, RL23, RL26, 7828 seem to be the sweet spot for heavies but h4350 is a popular powder still too.

I would love to try RL23 but it’s almost non-existent. And I’m not paying 400$ for 3 lbs off GB. Has anyone seen it lately?

Been a while since I've seen RL23, unfortunately. H4831SC was pretty close to it in performance in my testing, a smidge less velocity but similar consistency and charge weights. It's been widely available lately.

What kind of velocity with H4831sc? What bullet/weight?

300wsm long action 24" proof barrel
200 eldx
H4831sc
Norma brass
MV 2855
Shooting 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100.

Similar results with 200 accubonds
If you don’t mind sharing, what’s your load data on the 200 eldx? Planning on working up a load with that bullet and H4831SC when my barrel shows up.

With the Berger 200.20x bullet I got around 2830fps with 4831SC. With the 208ELDm and 215 Berger I was around 2800. This is from a 24" barrel throated longer than SAAMI. There was a little more velocity to be had, but I prefer a decent buffer from pressure.

H4350 also hold the current and past records.

I shot H1000 again with the 200 grain eldx this time I tried 71.5 grains and got heavy bolt lift, ejector marks and a couple of blown primers. I backed off to 71.0 gr. on my next trip after annealing and resizing and I started seating depth starting at .005" off to .065" in .010" increments and had to stop at .035" with a stuck case in the chamber. Pulled all of the bullets and dumped the powder individually and weighed it to double check. Everyone weighed 71.0-71.1 gr. Loaded 3 each at .020" .030" and .040". The second shot in (.020 & .030) each had real heavy bolt lift (shot 1 & 2 at .020" then 1 & 2 at .030"). The first shot in each group had no indication of pressure but the second did so I stopped there. Has this happened to any of you with any other load combo? My next step is 70.5 grains then a different powder if that doesn't work. Thnx

It's the slowest velocity listed on hodgdon and IMR powders and seemingly limited more by case fill than pressure because it's the only one that shows a sub 60k psi pressure at max charge. I wont say it doesn't work but it's still slower than ideal IMO. Interesting that the hodgdon data was at 2.79" COAL though and you're still too hot at a lower charge when loading it longer.

H4350 also hold the current and past records.
I believe the recent'ish 1000 yard BR world record with was shot with RL23 and 220 LRHTs.
