Are they worth the price? They say everything they do is built for long range. Are they better than a REm 700 cusotm build?

I have owned three Gunwerks rifles. I still own one LR1000 In 7mm LRM. They are outstanding rifles. Their customer service is outstanding. Very well built and super accurate, although very expensive. Are they worth the money? That all depends. Can you save money by going with another smith or company? Absolutely. Gunwerks rifles are amazing but you can save a lot of money by using a well known smith to build your rifle. Also Christensen Arms are making outstanding rifles for a great price. Check out their Ridgeline or their Classic carbon or classic carbon 2. I just picked up a Classic carbon in 300 Win mag last weekend to use on a BC mountain goat/black bear hunt this sept.

I sent Gunwerks a Stiiler action and a Broughton barrel and had them chamber it their early design 7LRM. Great customer service and the build shoots lights out. They know their chit.
If you are looking for "1000 yrds out of the box" they could be worth it. I just wanted that chambering and I am more than capable to do load work and drop data.

If you buy one of their rifles at $6000, you're getting boned. You could almost get two custom builds for that price. As much as they want you to believe it, they don't have a magic pixie dust that they sprinkle on their rifles to make them shoot...
