I bought a couple new barrels in December from a gunsmith that has always done great work for me. Based on past experience, they seemed to be taking longer than normal, so I wrote on March 22nd gently asking for an update with no reply. I followed up yesterday April 9th and they wrote back saying the barrels had been shipped/delivered on March 13th and gave me the Fedex tracking. When I looked at the Fedex confirmation, I realized they had shipped to my old house in a different state. I had given them my updated address upon ordering in December and they had confirmed this was on file (in fact when they responded yesterday they claimed to have sent to my current address).
When I wrote back saying they had shipped to the wrong address, the gunsmith responded they only have my current address on file and hopefully I can track down the package with the new homeowners at the old house. This feels like a very nonchalant response to a mistake that was ultimately theirs - am I overreacting? I have asked them to file a claim with Fedex to track down the package, or otherwise refund me, but they are being very slow to respond now. Any advice on how to proceed? At what point do I take the nuclear option and just file a chargeback with my bank?
In the interest of giving them a good faith chance to make this right, I'm refraining from publicly naming the group at this point.
