I saw that a lot of the German pointers were breed for brids and fur both was wondering if anyone still uses then for furs if so did you trained them like you would a hound.

Train like a bird dog, stop them from running big game, and shoot the smaller furry things they find. My pudelpointer figured out fur very quickly. He was hell on rabbits and feral cats, but also treed coons, marten, and a bobcat too. He also liked to lure coyotes back into shotgun range. My wirehair is a good rabbit and cat hunter, but that is about it.I saw that a lot of the German pointers were breed for brids and fur both was wondering if anyone still uses then for furs if so did you trained them like you would a hound.
Same here, love the DD breed. All business in the field and a good house dog.Love the German dogs. My current DD retrieves everything under the sun: feathers, fur, scales.... whatever.
