Gun storage at hunting camp

When I was solo in grizzly country, the gun was leaning against a tree about 18" from the tent opening. I did not want to have the gun in the tent where was more moisture from my breathing. I also knew you need a bit of room to maneuver to shoot a rifle. No handgun on that trip, Using bear spray inside a tent seemed a less than great idea. Eh, you takes your chances when you put your money on the table.
