Gun Sale Transaction

I've bought several rifles through internet transactions. I always pay before the gun is shipped. Never even considered it would happen any other way.
Recently on anther board the member shipped the stock at the same time I sent the check in the mail. He said "why should the buyer have to assume all the risk". I was surprised.

Same when you order stuff online from a store. You pay, then they ship.

Easy choice. Find another buyer.

I had a guy like that a couple years ago that I sold a shotgun to. I finally told him to find his own FFL local to me and work out a deal with him to act as the mediator/escrow agent. So he ended up sending the FFL the $1000 for the gun and another $100 fee to the FFL, and I traded the shotgun to him for the verified cashier's check. Then the FFL shipped the shotgun to the buyer.

what are you selling!?!?!!
I have a 44 auto mag pistol and I want around $3000 for it an 4 boxes of ammo, reloading dies, and holster. It was an old add on here and I have not tried too hard to sell it. The guy interested in it lives on the east coast. I've sold several guns in the past but always face to face with no problems. I've found a local FFL dealer and he says no problem shipping to another FFL dealer. I know a lot guys on rokslide sell and buy guns online and I really appreciate your feedback.

Guy could be legit, but based on the circumstances not a chance I'd bother pursuing that deal. Money should always be cleared before item is sent, no question. As others have mentioned, it could turn into a total cluster and just isn't worth it.

Just a side note, I think our feedback system here is wonderful. I immediately breath a sigh of relief when buying or selling something to another member when I see a few feedback ratings on their profile.

I just sold a gun like this. While I was still at my FFL I sent him a picture of the invoice that showed the gun had been transferred, he then sent me the money. I got my money before leaving the gun, and he got proof that I’m actually sending the gun. Worked out pretty well.
