Can anyone recommend a gun safe you like for around $1000? I only have a few rifles and a couple shotguns so it doesn’t need to be huge.

I dont have any recommendations as far as what to get. Im not familiar with what's currently out there in that price range but my advice would be to do lots of research on the build quality. Fire rating is often misleading and the number of locking bolts around the door doesn't mean squat of the internals are weak.

I bought a Winchester from tractor supply a few years back for around 6 or 700 dollars. Few years later the house flooded and the safe got wet. After ripping the inside apart it was nothing but a poorly welded thin shell with 2 sheets of drywall insulation. Decided to see what was in the door and was disappointed to see that only thin sheet metal connecting bars and rods were what connected the locking mechanism to those big beefy chrome bolts around the door edge.

I now have a 1200lb Browning Medallion 39 gun thats badass but I've moved twice since I bought it and Im moving to Anchorage in April. Starting to regret that purchase too! 😆 haha

Good luck with your search!

Just get the secure it that ships flat and you put it together.
The fire ratings are mostly bs.
And just look up some of the videos where they cut the safe open with a grinder.
I have a big 39 gun to. Moved it once so far and just wish I had 2 of the secure its.

Secure it has a medium duty option that is a little more like a traditional safe that looks interesting now too .
Like I said I rather have 2 smalls so I can distribute my firepower throughout the how better.

Thanks for the info guys. I’m going to research the secure it’s, they look like they might fit my needs perfectly. I don’t yet own a home and move somewhat frequently for work. That might be the ticket
