Gun Dog Kennel. Which one?

I just adopted/rescued a pointer and I am Looking for some opinions on which kennel to get and size. Thanks!

I keep my two shorthairs in Dakota 283 G3 Large kennels. Both dogs are about 70 pounds for sizing reference. I've had the kennels for 5 years. No complaints.

Kennel/run or crate? How tall is the dog? A good rule of thumb is that a crate should be tall enough the the dog to standup and have a bit of room above their head.

Cheap plastic ones for in the house.

Aluminum for traveling.

I use intermediate Ruffland Kennels for my GSP and Vizsla's for travel. I like that size. Easy to carry into motel rooms and fit in the back seat of my truck. Also have one for my wife's Subaru that is designed to fit in small SUV's. Had them for several years and never a problem. During hunting season, I keep a Lucky Duck intermediate kennel in the bed of my truck. The LD is larger than the Ruffland and heavier. I have an insulated cover over it and it doesn't leave my truck bed. The Lucky Duck is a safer kennel but that size and weight sucks when you have to carry it, so I have both.

FWIW, I bought a fancy fold up cloth kennel that is easy to carry into the motel room and visiting family. Great concept. Mine didn't last an hour before my dog put a large hole in it. Save your money.

2 intermediate ruff lands. Setters. 38-50# will fit perfect if not room to double up for short runs

I have two Ruffland kennels for my labs. They are 68 and 85 lbs and both use large kennels. I bet you can get away with an intermediate or large

+1 for ruffland. I have a size appropriate one for the truck and then size up one for the house.

Rufflland is great quality and what I use 90% of the time. I also have a Gunner Kennel. That thing is bullet proof but man you do not want to move that thing when it's setup.

I vote Ruffland for an all around durable quality kennel. Large size unless your limited in space in your vehicle, then an intermediate will probably be fine.

I did a pretty in depth comparison a few years ago when I was looking to upgrade kennels. I ended up with a Lucky Duck and have been very happy with it. Here's a link to the Poll thread from when I was looking into things. There's a bit of info. there that might be helpful.

I picked the Ruffland and its the the 2 door openings, very convenient in the SUV or in the camp trailer having the options to carry it different ways and still have the dog access it

Thanks everyone! Does anyone have a older Tahoe or yukon? What size can I slide into the back with the third row removed? I see Ruff land makes an SUV one with an angle cutout on the top side but is it needed? Will a regular intermediate slide in?

if u r broke, cheap, or don't want to transport your dog in the safest way possible- don't get a quality kennel that will last a lifetime ($$$$ vet bills, cremation, god forbid another dog). Lol.
