For yall that like having your guns on display...

What are you favorite methods? Gun racks? Shelves?

I'm very curious as to what creative alternatives may be out there.

I am currently building out my gun room so no pictures yet to show you but I have looked at this website for ideas. I built a new house last year and we incorporated a 200 square foot room under the concrete front porch as a gun room. 8" of concrete all around and a vault door to get in. There are some generic pawn store looking displays on this site but also some nice looking displays.

I have a see-through cabinet for the classy double barrels and walnut stocked rifles. The door locks, enough to keep children out, if that's the modern day concern folks reference.

What am I missing? Is there some sort of societal faux pas with a gun display?

It’s less the displaying of the firearms and more the attention it could bring. Sure your friends and family most likely aren’t going to rob you but other people that come into your home or the people your friends and family talk to may unknowingly tip off someone who might.

Case in point I know where a large collection of rare Winchester, Savage and Fox firearms is with an owner that has dementia and could easily be convinced to open the vault to show off said collection. I have never once met this man in my life but learned about it through a mutual friend. I have no intention of doing anything with that information, as cool as it would be to see such a collection, but somebody else with low morals and money problems could absolutely take advantage of the situation.

I have many old shotguns hanging on my walls. I have a log house and simply pound nails to hang them on. I also remove all their firing pins....

I agree with the general consensus here.

I lived in Hawaii for a bit. Guns all in a safe. But had some pelican cases in a closet. AC guy came by one day to do a repair, not sure what he saw. But know the next day the house was violently broken into. My dog ended up cornered in the room where the empty cases were….she fought them off somehow but wasn’t the same dog after that.

They came back again the next day too. Was some crazy stuff.

Separate event. Another time I had a display in a “safe room” locked reinforced door. It was the slotted boards with metal hangers (easily adjustable and the entire walls coated). It was cool. Made me happy. But as mentioned the risk of someone seeing it, hearing about it, etc. people are willing to do dumb stuff for guns they legally can’t own.

If my wife and I build a home I'm building a 10x10 gun room. With the only access in is me. I've lost faith in humanity. Besides my wife only about 4 other folks id allow in it.

People talk to much, no morals, and folks you think are fine will stab you in your back the first chance they get.
