I'm using 6,5x55 SWE for my Tikka M695. I use that for both reindeer, deer, moose and wild boar. Only problem I've had is once I shot a boar where the bullet didn't pass through and the fat enclosed the entrance so there was no blood and so it was hard to track it though it was just 200 yards from where I shot. Also check the Sauer 101 and Howa rifles. Both decent priced and same quality as Tikka

6.5 Creed. No question about it. I have a Short Action Customs in 260 that is an absolute hammer and I wish I would've went with a 6.5 Creed. You can get Hornady Match ammo for a very reasonable cost...it's usually cheaper than .308

Update.

He decided on the Savage Trophy hunter XP in the 6.5 creed. The store didn't have any lefties in stock so we had to order it. Ordered it on Wednesday and had it Friday. The groups were nice at first but started to get bigger. It turns out the every screw on the gun had loosened up. so after tightening everything down and re zeroing it tightened right back up.

He is really liking the gun and becoming more proficient. The last group he shot was just over an inch using the Hornady American Whitetails. Hopefully in 2 weeks we'll get to see how it performs on Whitetails. :D

Nice! I highly reccomend replacing the scope mounts. The nikon prostaffs are decent scopes and should be fine, but i always replace the mounts. Good luck!
