I’m trying to go on my first elk hunt this year and the chances of me drawing my tags I put in for are slim to none…

Does anyone know of a Guided, or private land Elk hunt that’s worth going on? I know they are going to be expensive, but at this point I just don’t have time to scout on public and take weeks off to try and do it solo.

Please send me some suggestions to see if there are still spots open. Thank you

They don't have to be crazy expensive. Fact is, you're too late. I booked mine last September for this year and that was only because there was a cancelation. I was looking at going 2026.

Really? You’d think there would be something open still.
Guess I missed it this year

If a place still has openings at this point, I'd proceed with caution. Most good places book out way in advance, often years. Im sure there are exceptions, but do plenty of research if a place still has openings.

It’s possible, but question will be whether or not you see an elk on your guided hunt. I know a good outfitter but the hunt is based on migration. Also are you looking at any state? Rifle or archery? A bit vague with your post.

No you’re not to late, many great outfitters still have openings for 2025. The whole “if they aren’t booked 3 years in advance they aren’t very good” thing has become a thing of the past for many outfitters. With so many changes especially in CO over the past few years many outfitters can’t afford to book years in advance.

Start making phone calls and you will find a reputable outfitter with openings

Just depends on the outfit, some are dependent on the outfitter draw and don’t start booking until January each year.

Pm sent with a couple guys I’d vouch for..

Any state on the west near Nevada (las Vegas) driving distance would be ideal. I’m wanting to do muzzle loader if possible. Archery would be 2bd but I haven’t shot often enough to be comfortable. So Muzzy ideally

What’s happened in CO? I’ve been so busy with life I haven’t been able to follow the news or changes within the last couple years

Well between the constant rise in non resident licenses, getting rid of OTC archery for non residents completely, and the introduction of wolves that’s just the small parts

I’d be hard pressed to book a hunt in co for an otc unit unless it was on really good private. Many of them run well less than 50% success on their rifle hunts.

I’m very interested. I’m not a trophy hunter. I just like meat in my freezer for my kids to eat. Idc about this grip and grin type photos.

You got a link or number?

There are a couple hunt broker companies out there. Many outfitters are great at hunting, bad at answering phones. The broker gets a cut for doing the leg work out of the outfitters fees. The brokers work with a ton of outfitters. They can link you up with someone for sure still if your flexible. Ive used hunt nation twice and they called me both times after the hint to see how happy I was with the outfitter.
