I’m not having a lot of luck finding a guided float moose hunt in Alaska. DIY is all I’m seeing. Does anybody know an outfit that will do a guided float hunt? Looking at 2027.

I'd check with Larry Bartlett on this site.

Is there a particular reason for a float hunt vs a land based hunt?
I can't speak for the OP, but I much prefer a float hunt to a drop camp. The advantage of being able to cover/see more territory, increased opportunity at multiple species, and the added benefit of river fishing are just a few of the reasons I really enjoy float hunts.

I’ve done land based hunts before but never a float hunt. Want to do one for the experience

I’ve done plenty of googling on the subject. What are you implying? If I found the results I was looking for I wouldn’t have made a post about it. I’m really only looking for useful information at this point. I’ve also made several phone calls to trusted individuals in the hunting and guiding community with not much luck. Everything I’ve found is diy drop camps. If you know a website to try then by all means attach a link or give me a little insight. Smart ass comments aren’t any help at all

To be clear I’m looking for a “guided float hunt” not just a an Alaska guided moose hunt. Those are a dime a dozen
May I ask why guided vs DIY? I just don’t get the idea of a guided moose hunt. It isn’t needed, and I think the savings for DIy would be worth it. Unless you are wanting a bear as well.

Daddy is feeling pretty generous today and realizes not everyone knows how to google. Here comes the spoon open wide:

Hidden alaska
Rods Alaskan guide service
Alaska elite outfitters
Bushwack Alaska Outfitters

Is that enough? If needed I can spoon up some phone numbers and websites. If none of those fit what you’re looking for there’s a few more. 🥄 is ready.
Have you ever hunted with or know anybody either experience with any of these outfitters?

I know some of the guides for a few of the operations so my comments would be biased. I would say contact all of them and go with your gut after speaking to all of them.
thanks. I’ll scope those out and see what I come up with

While it might not be needed for you. It may for others. I hire someone to Change my brakes. Others do their own. To them hired help isn’t needed. Some people like the experience factor of having a guide, takes a lot of that guesswork out of the game and lets them enjoy the experience more. It might not be needed for you would be more accurate than a broad stroke of the brush saying it isn’t needed.

Put some rough numbers together for a DIY moose hunt and let know what it's going to cost and I will think about it depending on price. I've always wanted to try it.

It’s on my bucket list (float hunt + wall hanger moose).

Good luck finding what you need.

I’m a DIY guy…. But Alaska (at least depending on where ya want to go) is a wild beast but guided prob safer bet (albeit more $).
