Great chart, curious what the dispersion has to degrade to before one says barrel is toast. Hunting vs bench vs other competition? But percentage difference easy enough to use from that chart without knowing that dispersion. But be curious to see that chart if say dispersion has doubled say 1 moa to 2 moa and what that would look like? Only hunt, and try to shoot more than the average redneck. Some don’t view barrels as consumables and easy to see why many do. I know my spitballing or qualities that appeal to me is mostly irrelevant and not as big a factor to split c-hairs over. But, Resale, factory original, etc. Some things you’d buy/sell you wouldn’t even worry about asking the question or stating round count and just buy/sell it anyway for that very reason. I like those qualities regardless. It never being a thought sort of thing. Like comfort food. And I don’t like 6mm (don’t like less that 120gr boolits) and don’t want anything manbun either. Not sure if you miss-read my post? The 6.5 creedmoor performs better than a 308 win. Has about 30% less recoil and ~60% of the barrel life. So why not just shoot 6.5 Creedmoor?
I would say you should really reevaluate that 20k round claim unless you have experience with a few that have gone that long?
I’ll also say that barrels are a consumable and basing a cartridge choice off that metric is foolish. Let’s pretend your 308 win gets 20k rounds and a 6.5 Creedmoor gets 3k. Replacing that barrel 6 times in 20k rounds is 15% of your ammo cost.
That's a sweet rifle! Can't believe I missed that one, if you ever get the urge to trip it for the shorter one they have listed now, I'll call dibs....Bartlein #4 carbon/anti/eh superlight. They have a shorter one right now that is SUPER similar with a fluted steel barrel I have been eyeing as well. It’s a shooter I’d like a little shorter one! Appreciate the kind words! With the EH SL stock now discontinued I’ll likely keep this one and just replace the 22” tube with an 18-20” when the time comes. That's a sweet rifle!
